FAQs

You have questions, we have resources and answers.
Do I need to be a Carta customer to run a secondary transaction?

Yes, having your cap table on Carta is essential to this liquidity product. You can learn more about pricing and plans here.

Where is the Liquidity product available?

Currently, most of Carta’s liquidity software is built and designed for US-incorporated companies. Carta has worked with international customers in the past, and would be happy to learn more about your needs on a call with our onboarding team.

How does Carta help me run my secondary?

For US-incorporated companies, Carta runs end-to-end secondary transactions directly on the cap table. In select international countries, the platform can act as an information agent, handling communication and logistics while transaction execution follows local processes.

What is a company buyback?

A company buyback is an opportunity provided and fully controlled by a company to empower its employees or early investors to sell their shares back to the company or other investors before an IPO or a merger.

For US-incorporated companies, this is known as a tender offer. We do a deep-dive on tender offers and how they work in this blog post.

How does Carta handle cap table data?

The whole tender offer is confidential; participants are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Carta also has a robust defense-in-depth strategy to safeguard customers’ data. Learn more here.
