Event Code of Conduct

Carta Event Code of Conduct
By attending a Carta event (in-person or virtual), including any of the events or activities organized by Carta in association with the Carta event (collectively the “Event”), you represent that you have read, understand and agree to the following Carta Event Code of Conduct (hereinafter “Code of Conduct”).This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, organizers, staff, and volunteers (collectively “Event Participants”) at the Event.
Event Conduct
Carta is committed to creating an inclusive safe environment, free from discrimination and harassment. Event Participants are expected to abide by the Carta Event Code of Conduct and treat others with dignity, courtesy, and respect and to act responsibly and safely.
Expected Behavior:
Be respectful, considerate, inclusive and collaborative.
Avoid conflicts and arguments.
Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech.
Show empathy towards others and Event Participants.
Unacceptable Behavior:
Unacceptable behaviors may include, but are not limited to:
Offensive or unwanted behavior or language related to race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, age, disability, veteran or marital status, or any other protected categories under applicable law.
Any lewd or offensive behavior or language, using sexually explicit or offensive language or conduct, profanity, obscene gestures, racial, religious or ethnic slurs.
Intimidation or bullying, both virtual and/or in-person.
Possession of a weapon or any item that can be used as a weapon, which may be used to threaten or cause injury to others if used in a certain manner.
Any destruction or vandalizing of personal property or event site or materials.
Smoking is not permitted other than in designated areas.
Intimidation, stalking, following, or harassing Event Participants.
Bringing on site, or to be found in possession of any illegal substances.
Public Intoxication
Failure to follow any of the rules or regulations of the event venues, or instructions of the event staff.
Sharing your event badge with other individuals.
Any other illegal activity not already covered above.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior:
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and may result in being removed from the current event, and/or any future Carta events. If a participant is seen engaging in unacceptable behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including warning the participant, excluding the participant from certain activities, prohibiting the participant from attending future events organized by Carta, expelling the participant from the event without a refund, and if appropriate involvement of local law enforcement, banning the participant from online forums, and other similar type experiences.
Reporting Behavior:
If you are the subject of, or witness to any violations of the Carta Event Code of Conduct, you can contact us in the following ways:
Notify any Carta staff member or security personnel immediately at the event.
Send an email to cartaevents@carta.com.
If you experience or witness a life safety emergency, please contact your local authorities, in North American dial 911, immediately.
You may request that your report remain completely confidential.
The Carta Code of Conduct may be revised at any time by Carta and the terms are non-negotiable. This Code of Conduct is without prejudice to Carta’s rights, all of which it expressly reserves.
